Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and to increase their profile in STEM. Founded in 2009 by Suw Charman-Anderson, it is now held every year on the second Tuesday of October.

Ada Lovelace was one of the first computer programmer and worked with Charles Babbage on his Analytical Engine – a predecessor of the modern computer.
